Unique Twists to the Frost Film Fest at Culver High

For Friday night’s show, participants will enter the high school at the Huron Street gate, just off of Braddock. Then an FM stereo transmitter will beam the audio portion of the films right to their car’s radio. Audiences are encouraged to extend beyond the cozy confines of their car. Bring lawn furniture and blankets to make a community experience of the event.

For the last nine years, the film department has solicited films from other high schools for the Frost Film Festival. The students work with AVPA’s film department director James Bentley to select the most interesting shorts of those submitted by area high schools. Additionally, students will screen the results of film department’s own fall project, which involved two teams competing against each to make the best film using the same script, "Club Evil."

Mr. Bentley is looking forward to showcasing the talents of young filmmakers from Santa Monica High School, Harvard-Westlake and Culver High for this year’s festival. He’s also excited about working with Hollywood Mobile Movie (www.hollywoodmobmov.com), who have generously donated their talent and equipment to create the drive-in. According to Mr. Bentley, "It’s been great fun working with Eric Kurland from Hollywood Mobile Movie again and seeing the students embrace this old art form with new technology and being a part of the Guerilla Drive-In movie movement."
