Students experiment and improvise to develop some ideas for their work.

The Academy of Visual and Performing Arts at Culver City High School invites the community to attend a unique event on Friday evening at the Robert Frost Auditorium, featuring original work by our students.

The program is called “Creativity in Process – Composer, Choreographer – Music, Dance, Art, Film, Theatre.”

The evening will be an opportunity to see work in progress and hear from our students as they discuss their creative process.

The main performance takes place at 8 o’clock in the Robert Frost Auditorium. The showcase features six original dance pieces choreographed by our dance students in collaboration with our student composers.

Art, Film, and Theatre students will also share their experiences in creating original work.

A reception and art exhibition will precede it at 7 in the Sony Pictures Theatre. The show will be followed by our AVPA Jazz Combo performing back in the Sony Pictures Theatre.

From 7 to 8, there will be a reception sponsored by the AVPA Foundation, featuring student art exhibition, refreshments, and music in the Black Box section of the Sony Pictures Theatre.

Admission is free, but donations are accepted.

This is a great opportunity to learn how our students develop their creativity – and for parents and community members to learn more about how to support our program through the AVPA Foundation.

Please join us for this new and unique event.

Dr. Spano is co-director of the AVPA.
