Popular West Coast band Marley’s Ghost will play Boulevard Music, Culver City, on Saturday, April 11, 8 p.m., in celebration of the release of its forthcoming album, The Woodstock Sessions.

The recording project was helmed by Grammy-winning producer Larry Campbell. Known for his artful work with Bob Dylan and Levon Helm, among many others, Mr. Campbell guides the Ghost’s dig into its garden of deep roots to uncover a host of hidden gems.

Featuring its trademark multi-part harmonies and multi-instrumental skills, the band’s 11th album is a resonant road trip through America’s past, set firmly in the present.

Critics have lauded Marley’s Ghost as “the band that does it all,” as its repertoire ranges from roots to reggae, English folk to gospel, rhythm and blues to Scottish bagpipe tunes.

Said the L.A. Weekly, aptly:

“This West Coast group deftly dashes across decades of American music to create a sound that’s steeped in tradition but never bogged down by traditionalism.”

Something Else Review added, “If there is a group, in the era after the sad passing of Levon Helm, who can push forward the ageless Americana blueprint of The Band, it might just be Marley’s Ghost.”

Some of the most respected names in the business have thrown their hats in the ring with the band. Their 2013 release, Jubilee, was produced by the late and legendary Cowboy Jack Clement, and featured guest performers    John Prine, Emmylou Harris, Old Crow Medicine Show, Marty Stuart, and Larry Campbell.

It was this work with Marley’s Ghost that compelled Mr. Campbell, a master musician of all things stringed, three-time Grammy-winning producer, and Americana Music Assn. Lifetime Achievement Award recipient, to sign on to produce The Woodstock Sessions.

The record will be available for purchase and signing at the Boulevard Music show ahead of its official release later this spring.

Boulevard Music is at 4316 Sepulveda Blvd. Admission is $17.50.  Tickets may be purchased in person at Boulevard Music or by phone at 310.398.2583.
