Like an old family friend, Culver City’s Boulevard Music Summer Festival returns home in 48 hours.
By 4:30 on Thursday afternoon, fans who have been along for most of the nearly two-decade ride, accompanied by their favorite picnic baskets, will start to congregate adjacent to the makeshift stage in the Courtyard of City Hall.
To these loyalists, the genre of the evening’s music fare scarcely matters.
They report all six Thursdays of the venerable series because of the informal, down-home atmosphere, the sea of familiar faces and perhaps even the presence of the producer Gary Mandell, proprietor of Boulevard Music.
For this season, Mr. Mandell has brought together an eclectic blend of regulars and newcomers.
Thursday’s 7 o’clock attraction comes under the former listing.
Strains of Cajun music will be echoing throughout the two-hour performance of Andre Thierry and Zydeco Magic.
