Foreign Film Series Will Open at the Landmark

Stephen Farber, film critic for Movieline’s Hollywood Life and The Hollywood Reporter as well as a regular contributor to The New York Times and Los Angeles Times, is offering his first-ever foreign film series, beginning Monday, Jan. 14, at the Landmark Theatre. As with his wildly popular REELTalk series, the series will bring together new films and fascinating discussions with actors, directors, filmmakers and industry executives.

Recent REELTalk guests and screenings have included:

  • Khaled Hosseini, best-selling author, stars Khalid Abdalla, Homayoun Ershadi, Shaun Toub, and Atossa Leoni, William Horberg and Rebecca Yeldham, producers of The Kite Runner.
  • Janusz Kaminski, award-winning cinematographer of The Diving Bell and the Butterfly.

  • Mira Nair, director of The Namesake.
  • Laura Linney and Tamara Jenkins, star and writer-director of The Savages.
  • Richard Zanuck, legendary producer of Sweeney Todd.
  • Robert Benton, director of Feast of Love.
  • Florian Henckel von Donnersmarck and Sebastian Koch, writer-director and star of the Oscar-winning foreign film, The Lives of Others.
  • Javier Bardem and Alejandro Amenabar, star and director of the Oscar-winning foreign film, The Sea Inside.
  • Forest Whitaker, Oscar-winning star of The Last King of Scotland.

All screenings will be held at the Landmark Theatre, 10850 West Pico Blvd., on the southwest corner of Pico and Westwood. Show times are at 7 p.m. on the following dates:

The cost is $90 for the full series of six screenings; $20 per individual screening.

Beyond free parking, perks include weekly raffles and the opportunity to enjoy a different international wine or beer with the film, courtesy of the Wine Bar at the Landmark. Guests must be 21 and over to attend.

Under “Select Market,” click on “Los Angeles, CA.”

Under “Select Theatre,” click on “The Landmark.” This will bring you to the “Select Tickets & Showtimes” window.

3. Under “Select Show Date,” click on “January 14, 2007.”

4. Click on the 7:00 link next to “Reel Talk Foreign Film Series.”

5. Select the number of season passes you want (service fee is $1.00 per pass) and select “Buy Tickets.”

6. Enter yo­ur credit card information and submit.



You should receive a confirmation e-mail. Please bring your credit card to the theatre on Jan. 14 and pick up your pass(es) at the concierge desk.
