A Decade in Business

Since 1997, Ms. Moraes and Sambaguru have been playing a diverse range of original music.

Influenced by their various personal and professional backgrounds, this sextet features the Brazilian singer/songwriter Ms. Moraes, Kevin Ricard, Mitchell Long, Hussain Jiffry, Tony Shogren and Bill Brendle.

The ensemble combines the musical techniques and styles of Brazil, Sri Lanka and the United States to create a uniquely vibrant sound.

Ms. Moraes acts as singer, dancer, and songwriter for the group.

She pulls energy and inspiration from her Los Angeles environment, and she combines it with the classic samba flavors of her native Rio de Janeiro to form the band’s compelling style.
