In anticipation of performing on Saturday at an out-of-town theatre festival, members of Culver City High School’s Academy of Visual and Performing Arts, will stage a preview for the home crowd this evening.
At 7 o’clock in the Sony Black Box Theatre on campus, AVPA students will rehearse parts of their scripts.
Three group scenes and two monologues scheduled for Saturday’s Drama Teachers of Southern California Festival in Temecula will be staged.
Senior Sonya Broner and sophomore Eliza Spear will perform two contrasting monologues.
The three group scenes are entirely adapted, directed and performed by the students.
They include the categories of Large Open Comedy (Biloxi Blues, adapted and directed by juniors Sadushi De Silva and Thanassis Tetradis), Large Open Drama (Cat on a Hot Tin Roof, adapted and directed by junior Samuel Petersen) and Musical (musical numbers on the theme of betrayal, directed by juniors Paxton Amor, Raegan Harris, Claire Skelley and Khamiya Terrell). Due to mature content, the entertainment is recommended for ages 12 and up. Admission is free. Donations will be accepted.
