The 60-year-old Los Angeles Doctors Symphony, one of the oldest in the country, will perform “An Afternoon at the Opera” at 3 o’clock on Sunday in the Vets Auditorium.
Among the memorable overtures, preludes and arias from classic operas will be the Light Cavalry overture, Intermezzo from Cavalleria Rusticana, and Orpheus in the Underworld overture. Featured soloist will be soprano Michelle Drever.

[img]2269|right|||no_popup[/img]The Doctors Symphony has its roots in the medical professions, and its mission is to enrich Southern California through the healing power of music. Originally composed of only medical professionals, the orchestra now welcomes all accomplished musicians. Dr. Ivan Shulman has been the Doctors Symphony Music Director since 1990. Soloist Michelle Drever is a rising soprano making her orchestral debut with the Doctors Symphony. Ms. Drever studied voice at the Manhattan School of Music in New York City, where she was taught by Hilda Harris. She is currently under the instruction of Michael Dean at UCLA.
