Perhaps seeing students you know in these three illustrations will get you in the mood to catch the stage production of “Singin’ in the Rain sometime between tonight and Sunday afternoon at the Robert Frost Auditorium, 4401 Elenda St.

The photographs, by the ace camera artist George Laase, capture Culver City High School students, in the Academy of Visual and Performing Arts program, pacing through the1952 movie musical.

Showtimes at the Frost, on campus, are 7 o’clock tonight, Friday and Saturday, supplemented by matinee performances at 1 on Saturday and Sunday.

The AVPA creative team includes director/conductor Tony Spano, Jr., choreographer Julie Carson, vocal director Lisa Michel, set designer Ian Marsh, lighting designer François-Pierre Couture, producer Farhang Pernoon, film director Alexis Butler, costume designer Jessica Champagne-Hansen, assistant to the directors Melanie DeArmond and accompanist Christopher Luthi.

Correspondent Susan Bronstein reports that the 60-plus AVPA student actors, technical crew members, filmmakers, and musicians involved in this production have received professional quality education while learning the classic story, placed in 1927, of Hollywood's transformation from silent pictures to the talkies.

The production features filmed scenes, just like in the MGM movie, which were made in collaboration with the AVPA film department.
