The angry director.

The self-absorbed diva.

The neurotic costume designer, and all the in-fighting anyone familiar with the arts would immediately recognize.

Along the way, as you might expect in a musical, our heroes arbitrarily burst into songs both comic and serious.

Support Is Strong

The dialogue itself is witty, and the props were clever. The story takes place in a “post-apocalyptic” future, where man is finally re-evolving into what we know today.

This makes the props a gag in themselves. Everything from styrofoam boxes to garden rakes is put to new purpose. My only issue with that method, unfortunately, is that the play feels as though it had been written with REAL cavemen in mind. The “post-apocalyptic” nonsense was added afterwards in a blatant attempt to be funny.

Recommendation

All in all, “Ug: The Caveman Musical” was an entertaining, enjoyable experience, one I would recommend to even casual theatre- goers.
