Of the 234 hours that have passed since last week’s School Board election, research maven George Laase has devoted more than 200 to breaking down and tirelessly poring the data his sagging-jowls computer has been spitting out.
Here is by far the most detailed analysis of the race that is sending two new members to the Board, Nancy Goldberg and Laura Chardiet.

Mr. Laase, motivated by a desire to “do this for the community,” said his main takeaway from the election will be the dominance of bullet voting, deliberately voting for one candidate when two seats were available.
The main objective of bullet voting is to disproportionately help a favored candidate. The secondary objective is to deflectively punish the contender’s nearest rivals by depriving them of votes.
By presenting the accompanying spreadsheet that is meticulously detailed, Mr. Laase said it is his hope that the dense data “will lead to more informed voters, which means candidates will have to be better informed, too.
“I hope when people who did not vote see this spreadsheet, they will realize bullet voting has a devastating effect on an election — especially when voter turnout is low. The more people who vote, the more they can diminish the impact of bullet voting.”
