If you were walking anywhere in Culver City yesterday, you may have encountered a horde of students passing out flyers in support of Scott Zeidman for the Culver City School Board.

In an unprecedented move, hundreds of students have signed on to support the re-election of the popular Board President.

When asked why he would spend most of an entire Sunday passing out flyers for Mr. Zeidman, Middle School student Marcus Brown responded, “It’s Scott. Why wouldn’t I?”

Student Nolan Martinez explained, “Scott is always around the schools, always trying to make things better for us (the students). We really want him re-elected.”

When Tyler MacIntosh received the flyer, he proudly posted on Facebook, “Aww, yeah, my name is on the flyer.”

Mr. Zeidman’s older son, Jason, a seventh-grader at the Middle School, put it this way:

“I would rather be playing COD (Call of Duty). But this election is important for students. So giving up a Sunday is .”

Mr. Zeidman, endorsed by all current members of the City Council, of the School Board, the Culver City Chamber of Commerce, 12 former Culver City mayors and more than a half-dozen former Presidents of the School Board, talked about his recruiting strategy.

“Every meeting, we hear, ‘It’s all about the students.’ Usually, the person speaking has ulterior motives. It is more about that person than the students.

“Yesterday, having so many students lend their names, to show up and spend the day delivering flyers… well, that says so much.

“Every decision I make is always about the students, and it’s nice to have the students’ recognition.”

Tuesday, Nov. 8 is Election Day.
