Goldberg Fundraiser

There still is time to reserve tickets for the “Nancy Goldberg for School Board” fundraiser at The Actor’s Gang production of “Red Noses” at the Ivy Substation, Saturday, Oct. 22, at 8 p.m.

A dark comedy set in 1348 France when the Black Death was decimating Europe, there was little hope for survival, and a priest attempts to make people laugh and restore hope. Director Dominique Serrand said he chose to direct Peter Barnes’ play now because of its relevance to the turmoil and discontent in America.

Dinner before the show is planned at Libra Brazilian Restaurant, 3833 Main St., which includes a salad bar with more than 30 hot and cold items, as well as 10 different cuts of meat. Prices are $35 for general seating at the theater and $50 for reserved seating (special center section). Priority seating and dinner is available for a cost of $100.

Reservations may be made before Saturday by contacting Barbara Honig at barbarahonig@juno.com, calling Margaret at 310.836.6295, or sending checks payable to Nancy Goldberg for School Board 2011, P.O. Box 2981, Culver City CA 90231-2981.

Coffee Chats with Mr. Z

Robert Zirgulis, candidate for the School Board, will be holding Coffee Chats with prospective voters outside of the Starbucks store across from City Hall the next four Sundays, Oxct. 16, Oct. 23, Oct. 30 and Nov. 6, between 10 and 12 noon.

“I want voters to get a chance to meet me and discuss important issues facing our School District, “ said Mr. Zirgulis.

“I will be able to show them actual documentation on how the School District is wasting millions lawyering up on attorney fees to take adversarial positions against the teachers and classified employee unions, along with 72 cases involving special education disputes.”

“Anyone providing information of waste, fraud and corruption will have his identity held in strict confidentiality,” Mr. Zirgulis said.
