Re “The Wonder Years

Forty thousand furlough days are fuzzy math….cut through the fuzz, George Laase.

Leuzinger High School and Lawndale H.S. are part of the 7,800-student Centinela Valley Union High School District with three schools, an independent high school and an adult school.

Let's not get into the state ADA or CEBED funding differences between the two school districts.

Hint: CCUSD is far behind Mr. George Laase's example.

If we have six furlough days, why not take our children to the Los Angeles County Natural History Museum on those furlough days? Los Angeles Museum of Latin American Art is a field trip families can take — it has been cut from our School District's budget.

Let's go CRAZY and take our children to the Getty on furlough days.

Bottom line…. parents are “Education First Responders.”

It's five or six days we won't get back from our School District, George. But it's five or six days we can spend with our children and be empowered to teach them what is important to ourselves.

Free Furlough Days at all Los Angeles County museums and points of education should be a rally call to our County Supervisors and City Council.

Now that's something to shout about, George!

The School Board is doing all within its power to keep schools open.
