Re “The Key Word Is ‘Negotiations’

After reading the comments made by retired lawyer Jim Freedman, I don't think Mr. Freedman will be representing any cities in negotiations.

“It’s the sign of the times, cities cashing in on the economic downturn,” he said.

But then again, he did say he was a negotiator for cities.

Maybe that is how cities operate.

I thought Culver City was in a true financial crisis. Now I have been enlightened. It may only be a ploy to renegotiate employee contracts.

I do not believe that Culver City is cashing in on the economic downturn.

I know for a fact the city is having deep financial problems. I comment on issues based on my experience and knowledge of the city since starting work here in 1976 at the age of 22.

I am not an ex-police officer, I am a current police officer. I am a retired 31- year Culver City police officer.

But I am hardly bitter. You can tell more about a person by what he says about the issues than you can by what others say about him. I encourage everyone in the city to read what people say about the issues. Then form your own opinion.

Let me finish with these famous quotes:

“No sensible decision can be made any longer without taking into account not only the world as it is, but the world as it will be.” —
Isaac Asimov

“Action may not always bring happiness, but there is no happiness without action.” — Benjamin Disraeli

I like this one the best. This is how I try to live. I am glad I live in this country.

“Thou shalt not be a victim. Thou shalt not be a perpetrator. Above all, thou shalt not be a bystander.”
— Holocaust Museum, Washington, D.C.
