After a lengthy and bitter battle last winter in Council Chambers over which entrepreneur — Gary Mandell of Boulevard Music or the Jazz Bakery — would be in charge of the 8-week Summer Concert Series, they cut the baby in pieces, biblically speaking.

Mr. Mandell, who has run the Thursday night series for the last 11 years, ultimately was awarded the first six shows in the Courtyard of City Hall.

The last two, starting this evening at 7, belong to the Jazz Bakery Moveable Feast, as it is billed, which will be bringing a distinctively different sound and milieu to the Courtyard.

Tonight at 7, the Jazz Bakery will present the jazz quartet of Woodford, Ehling, Ratner and Wallace — to explain:

Colin Woodford on drums, Otto Ehling, piano, Adam Ratner on guitar and Carter Wallace, bassist.

Dwight Trible, featured vocalist with the Pharoah Sanders Quartet and vocal director for the Horace Tapscott Pan Afrikan Peoples Arkestra, will be the guest vocalist.
