New President for West L.A. College

[img]1206|left|||no_popup[/img]West Los Angeles College today has selected a new president, Nabil Abu-Ghazaleh.

He will arrive in August from Coast Community College District where he served as Vice Chancellor of Educational Services and Technology. Prior to that, Mr. Abu-Ghazaleh served at West's sister campus, Pierce College in the Valley, as the Vice President of Academic Affairs.

He will succeed Interim President Dr. Rose Marie Joyce, who has served since last summer following the departure of Dr. Mark Rocha for Pasadena City College.

Said Los Angeles Community College District Chancellor Dr. Daniel LaVista of the new President:

“West Los Angeles College is fortunate to have someone with leadership experience in strategic enrollment planning and information technology strateg, among his myriad strengths in academic administration. These assets will help West Los Angeles College to anticipate student enrollment trends and serve students even more effectively over the next decade. Integral to his management experiences is a respect for sound shared governance and an appreciation for campus collegiality and its positive impact on the community.”

AMr. bu-Ghazaleh is currently pursing his Ed.D. at Cal State Fullerton. He holds an M.S. and B.S. in Engineering Sciences from U.C. San Diego as well as a M.A. in Higher Education from UCLA.

Mr. Abu-Ghazaleh takes office on Monday, Aug. 1, three weeks from today.
