Dateline Dayton — I have just returned from another trip to Florida, this time for our son’s surgery. Fortunately, everything went well and Chris has made a spectacular recovery.
During down time, my brother-in-law, Willie, who accompanied me on this trip, and I, watched a lot of television. Just about any station you switched to was either carrying the Casey Anthony trial live, or analyzing the trial and its players.
I must admit, I was not surprised at the verdict. So many confusing stories. I don’t believe the prosecution proved she committed the horrible crime beyond a reasonable doubt.
Between the players, mom, dad, Casey, boyfriend, mistress, one of them, possibly all, know exactly what happened. Did Casey get away with murder? I believe so. Will she make a fortune from possible book, television and tabloids? Sure.
The terrible result of this whole ordeal is a child is dead because she was unfortunately born into the wrong family. Another example of why I believe we need training, possibly even a license, to have children. And I’m not just speaking of the birth mother.
While flipping though channels, trying to find something entertaining, I happened on “Reno 911.” Since I believe this is one of many stupid programs on television, I don’t watch the show. For some reason I paused at the program this time, only to see the character in the short tight pants put what appeared to be some type of stuffed animal or doll in a microwave.
As you may recall, here in Dayton we had a mother who placed her child in a microwave. I found this action on “Reno 911” offensive. Like the girl in Dayton, he should be convicted of murder. No wonder our youth grow up with warped minds, watching this trash on television. Could it be that I don’t understand humor? If that’s the case, I’m glad I don’t!
I would like to take this opportunity to single out a few people who crossed our path on our trip to Florida. Although I only have one person’s name, they all made a difference.
Chris’s surgeon – He did a great job and visited us both before and after the surgery.
The anesthetist – He explained everything and assured us he would take good care of Chris.
The nice lady who took Chris’s medical information, happened to be from Middletown, which is near Dayton. She said her parents dragged her to Florida 30 years ago, when she was 16.
The staff at St Joseph Hospital in Tampa – Everyone just went out of their way to help.
Bill at Interstate Batteries in Tampa – Chris was having a problem with the battery in his truck, so Willie and I took it to have it checked.
The nice young lady at Hooters in Tampa.
The great waitress at the Huddle House on route 441.
These are a few on many whom we met on this quick trip. We thank each of them.
