Dateline Boston — I watch a lot of TV. Most of what I watch is purely entertainment. Some of it is really bad. Since I spend many hours focusing on my flat screen, I feel qualified to make some suggestions on how to improve what people watch. In no particular order:

Please leave the Jackson kids alone. Just because their masks have been removed doesn’t mean we need to see their faces on a weekly basis. Let them grieve the loss of their father privately and get on with their lives! In particular, leave Blanket Jackson alone! That poor boy always has a scowl on his face. I’m sure he really really hates doing interviews and having his picture taken. You can see it in his face; I’ve never seen him smile. Let him be.

Re: Charlie Sheen. I feel for him. He’s having such a hard time. Yes, he’s acting out. Yes, it’s embarrassing. Let’s leave him alone, too. Hopefully he’ll get the help he desperately needs. Don’t add fuel to the fire.

Remove all drug ads. That’s all I will say about that.

I saw a story on TV recently about a goose who adopted a man. They’ve been walking around a park together for a year now, this goose and this man. Even when the man rides home on his moped, the goose flies right alongside him. They have a special bond. I’d like to see more stories like that. Touching, heartwarming stories, with no product placement. Yes!

Also, I’d like to see more TV with kittens and puppies and bunnies. Let’s up the cute factor.

And let’s have more coverage of Japan and what’s happening in the towns and villages that were destroyed. What’s happening there? You can update us on Fukushima every few days, but what I’d like to see are more human interest stories during any disaster.

Yes to Oprah. Yes to Ellen. Yes to American Idol. Yes to the Sunday Morning Show. No to discount furniture ads. No to bachelor and bachelorette shows. No to funniest video shows that are more horrifying than funny.

That’s what I’d like to see. What about you?
