I never would have thought to include cheddar cheese and peanut butter in the same dish. Without the memory of the irresistible taste still fresh on my palate, I would have declared the very idea disgusting.
That is one thing I love about my husband. He is full of unique surprises in and out of the kitchen. I enjoy cooking, but I am more of a predictable chef. He is a loose cannon, combining whatever ingredients happen to be living on the same shelf in the refrigerator (or at least it seems that way to me… how else could he think of such things?) Occasionally, the results of his concoctions are a disaster. More often than not, though, I end up scraping the pan after cleaning my plate and his.
Cooking is not the only area in which his talent for the unpredictable approach reaps rewards. His brain can wrap itself around problems mine wants to punch through in frustration. It is true that he often drives me crazy with all the dirty dishes he creates while cooking or the metaphorical balls he drops while implementing his latest masterful plan. However, I (albeit sometimes grudgingly) accept this disruption to my orderly life knowing it creates dimensions of excitement I never would have imagined on my own.
This is only one part of what makes us a great team. It’s a good one.
