Determined to be first to gussy up for Halloween, Holly (Help Me Save the World) Mitchell, likely Culver City’s next state senator, donned her Supergirl cape and favorite Lone Ranger mask yesterday, inhaled a deep breath, gargled and deliberately jumped off a mountain top yesterday – into a richly deserved puddle of gooey, sticky mud.

Civility suffers another ignominious defeat.

The chronically misguided Assemblyperson (D-Culver City) elbowed her pal Tonto out of the way, leaped aboard his aging steed, shut her eyes and galloped – she thought heroically – to the rescue of those marquee victims of the millenium, single mothers.

One of her many emotion-blinded Democrat colleagues deftly covered himself with mud in the pockmarked state Legislature where unemployable clowns go to die.

The equally foolishly misinformed Luis (No, Help Me Save the World) Alejo of Watsonville – who knows less about commerce than Tonto’s steed – led a foot-stomping charge through the state Assembly yesterday to win approval to jump the state’s minimum wage from $8 to $9.25 an hour.

Naturally, Save the World Mitchell was near the front of the bully boy parade, choosing this option because an intellectual reason could not be marshaled.

The vote was 44 for the Yahoos, 24 by normal people.

According to the always reliable, teeth-bitingly fair journalists at the Los Angeles Titanic, Save the World Mitchell said – for the 10, 024th time this week alone – that “many” single mothers rely on low-wage jobs to support their families. We ask Save the World: How many?

The Titanic reports that California’s minimum wage is one of the highest in the world even though it has not been raised for five years.

“How can we turn the tide on child poverty in this state if we don’t allow women in the household to earn a living wage?” Save the World Mitchell asked, turning up her palms.

Passt, you, Save the World. I am over here behind the tree trunk.

Question for you, Toots.

What is a living wage? Do you have any idea, or can you only emote, leaving the cerebral side of legislating up to Republicans?

On this day, Save the World got lucky and earned two scoops of ice cream on her cone when the Assembly passed one of Save the World’s worst-ever ideas. AB 641 allows some child care workers to unionize. Whoopee.

The girls in the Legislature, including Save the World Mitchell, should return to their knitting.

That should minimize the harm such sob sisters and their sob sissy male colleagues can inflict on normal Californians.
