Starting four days ago, each time I opened the kitchen cabinet where our dishes sit, I noticed what looked like animal droppings or bits of spices on the top plates.
Since the spice jars sit on racks above the plates, I preferred the spice dropping theory.
I picked up each spice jar. Using a paper towel, I made sure each was clean on the bottom.
Next time I opened the cabinet, there were the droppings again.
This time I thought, “If I put a paper towel under all the spice jars on the cabinet rack, I will be able to see which jar has the leak by just looking under each jar.
Surprise! Droppings were on the dishes below. Uh, oh. Does this mean there's a malevolent insect hiding in the cabinet?
Just when I thought I would reach for the bug spray, something caught my eye, a spice jar tilted to its side, on the rack on the inside of the cabinet door.
Hmmm. I am kind of thick sometimes. Cleaning the plates, I closed and opened the door five times. Each time the mysterious droppings appeared.
Then it dawned on me. Closing the cabinet door shook the tipped jar and made it speckle the plates.
Heck, I was really anxious to get a glimpse of a super-fast bug.
