Ten months after the idea first gained traction at a City Council meeting, the nine-member Financial Advisory Committee held its inaugural meeting last evening in the Dan Patacchia Room, City Hall.

Mainly, the 90 minutes were spent organizing and getting to know each other.

Goran Eriksson was elected Chair, and Crystal Alexander, Vice Chair.

That left David Trovato, Rich Hibbs, Steven Reitzfeld, Alejandro Lara, Allan Azran, Desmond Burns, Sean Kearney as the seven untitled – but not unentitled – members.

And all were sworn into office.

Mr. Eriksson, former Chair of the Chamber of Commerce, said he hopes that the committee will have an impact on the City Council.

“I would surely hope the City Council is open and serious about this,” he said. “Otherwise, why create the committee because we would just be spinning our wheels.”

Having decided to convene on the second Wednesday of the month, the committee’s first business meeting is scheduled for 7 o’clock on June 12.

By-laws were the dominant subject, and it was determined that by the end of summer, (four months after forming), the Financial Advisory Committee’s work plan must be submitted to the City Council for approval.

The work plan is expected to be developed at the June meeting.
