In their home opener yesterday afternoon, Culver City High School’s baseball team, defending their Ocean League title, scored all of their runs in the first inning and never looked back, defeating Beverly Hills, 5-0.

Starting pitcher Jay Sterner and closer Louie Ortega combined for the shutout.
Last year, the Centaurs swept the competition, finishing as undefeated Ocean League champions. They resume this week's two-game series on Thursday afternoon at 3 at Beverly High.
