To all:

I hope you had a great Thanksgiving/Chanukah weekend. I realize you may have gotten a few emails forwarded from others on the special election (today) for the state 54th Assembly District seat.

Below is yet another endorsement of Chris Armenta from a respected community Leader, Marilyn Cohon, who has fought against overdevelopment, and who represents her neighborhood association to improve our region, and who wants better representation from our city, state and other levels of government.

Please make sure we get out the votes in this low-voter turnout. In this particular election, this voter turnout is so low that every single vote is likely to have a lot more clout than usual.

We need someone to fight for CEQA, against overdevelopment and environmental trashing of the Westside, and for a balanced and sustainable government in Sacramento. Democrats, Republicans and Independents all have an excellent and obvious choice for the 54th Assembly District.

That person is Chris Armenta. Unlike his primary opponent, the 26-year-old and entirely inexperienced son of a County Supervisor, funded with $500,000 of money from Clear Channel, Regency Outdoor Advertising, NBC Universal, Majestic Realty, Phillip Anschutz, the IBEW, Monsanto, health plans and insurance companies, utilities, Chevron, Exxon and other lobbyists and special interests, Mr. Armenta is being funded only by individuals.

That means you, that means me, and that means Mr. Armenta will represent the residents of our district.  He has 20 years of experience in representing ordinary citizens, and he continues to personally meet Westsiders and mid-city residents. His primary opponent has no such history and appears to communicate only in broad, non-specific generalities that suggest he does not know the district with which he purports to represent.

If you don't know your polling place, go to http://lavote.net/locator/

Once you enter your address, you will be supplied with the location.

Please vote, and get your friends and neighbors to vote.

Let representation and experience be the deciding factor in who wins this election, not money and self-serving power from the political and economic elites. Read the letter below.

From Marilyn Cohon:

Dear Neighbor,

It is easy to forget civic responsibility in this season of good cheer, but there is an important election (today), one that could
have significant consequences for our community.

We have a choice:

Chris Armenta, respected former mayor of Culver City, 10 consecutive years as elected official through 2012, 25 years of government accounting and auditing experience, lifelong resident of the 54th District.

Or Sebastian Ridley-Thomas, 26-year-old son of an L.A. County Supervisor who raised over $500,000 from powerful special interests.

Although many of you know me through my community experience, I am writing to you as a private citizen, asking you to take a few minutes (today) to vote in this important election.
