With three seats available, the Culver City Chamber of Commerce today has endorsed Sue Robins and Dr. Steve Levin for the School Board election on Nov. 5.

At its Board of Directors “Meet the Candidate” forum, all seven candidates interviewed with the same four questions covering a broad area of Board and education policy. Two of the four questions were given to the candidates a day prior. The two others were asked at the forum.

Ms. Robins and Dr. Levin showed knowledge of the issues by their distinct and forward-looking answers.

“The forum allowed the Chamber Board to hear the candidates answer questions so we could hear from them directly on their views of 21st century education for the students of Culver City,” said Michael Hamill, Board Chair.

Both Dr. Levin and Ms. Robins earned endorsement by receiving 50 percent plus one vote of the Board members in attendance on the one ballot the Chamber does during its endorsement process.

Next Monday, the Chamber’s website, www.culvercitychamber.com, will have an electronic stream of all seven interviews available to the public.

The Culver Chamber’s CulverPAC political action committee met following the forum to discuss contributions to the endorsed candidates.

The Chamber of Commerce celebrated its 92nd anniversary last month. More than 600 local businesses belong to the Chamber. On the 30-member board, 14 live in Culver City and 24 are small business owners in Culver City.
