A choir of more than a dozen cellists, ranging in age from 11 to 75 years old, will play a repertoire of compositions from Bach to the Beatles. The event is free and open to the public.

Dr. Dewberry, a renowned cellist based in Orange County, will lead the Orange County Cello Choir in a performance on Sunday evening at 6 at the Gaslamp Restaurant, Long Beach.

In addition to original solo compositions played by Dr. Dewberry, the choir will perform classical, pop, rock and folk dance melodies.

“We have a diverse group of musicians,” she says. “Some have or aspire to have a professional career in music. Others are established professionals in non-musical fields. They are looking to their cello as a creative social outlet. We all have the desire to play and to share our passion with other cello lovers.”

Gaslamp owner Michael Neufeld features live performances that range from hard rock to hip-hop, ‘80s and metal cover bands. “The Gaslamp is all about live music,” Mr. Neufeld said, “and we’re looking forward to bringing another genre of music to our stage.

Dr. Dewberry has a DMA in Music from UCLA. With more than 20 years of experience as a teacher, composer, soloist, orchestral, touring and recording musician, Dr. Dewberry originally created the cello choir in 2011 to give her students an opportunity to perform live. Since then, the choir has grown to 18 members who perform in different venues throughout Southern California.

The Gaslamp, 6251 E. Pacific Coast Highway, Long Beach, is at the corner of Loynes and PCH. For more information, contact http://www.TheGaslampRestaurant.com.
