Dateline Dayton – Ever wonder where a day has gone? I had one of those last Saturday. Went to the office for a few minutes early in the morning. After that, the day became lost.

My plan was to work in the yard in the morning, do errands and attend the Dragons’ baseball game in the evening. When I got up it was raining. That killed any chance of yard projects. Pauline went to church to sing at a funeral. I I would wait for her to return before running my errands.

Since the funeral was at 10 o’clock, and it now was three hours later, I determined she was not cominbg directly home and probably went to see her brother. He had called on Friday while she was playing cards with her lady friends, asking her to purchase an item for him.

Where did all that time go? I wouldn’t be surprised if there had been nap time in that span.

Shortly after 1 o’clock, I headed downtown to pick up our baseball tickets for the evening game. On the way home, I picked up a grocery scales for a friend in Michigan, who had purchased it on Ebay.

When I picked up the baseball tickets, I discovered this was the weekend for the Celtic Festival. Parking would be at a premium by game time, especially since the rain had stopped. When Pauline came home, I asked if she wanted to leave early so we could walk around the festival, which offers entertainment, demonstrations, a children’s area, food, beer, jewelry and expensive clothing. Did I mention there was lots of beer?

Our tickets, not our regular seats, were on the second level. This was the first time we have sat in the upper deck, good seats, and a great game because the Dragons won. .

Early Sunday morning I did accomplish some of the yard work before going to church. Afterward, back to the ballpark, our regular seats this time, for what ended up being a very exciting game. Since the Dragons were losing, many fans left in the seventh inning. They felt that as long as they were standing for the seventh inning stretch, they might as well take the opportunity to leave.

Boy, did they miss a comeback in the bottom of the eighth inning, a grand slam, that allowed the Dragons to go on and win the game.
Our friends Dan and Jane, who have those terrific seats behind home plate, invited us to join them last night for the Dragons game. The team just couldn’t get with it and lost 5-0.

I have said before, we always have a good time at the park, even if the Dragons lose.
