What Is the District's Plan?

The debate over whether our schools need fixing is finished. Now we need to focus on how much will it cost, over what period of time the work will be done, and the added debt to property owners.

Whether the School District does the needed work in one jump or over a decade, whether the ultimate cost is $70M or $165M, the paying down of the debt incurred must come out of the pockets of local property taxpayers.

Before going further with the bond measure, before it is put on a ballot, as a taxpayer-retiree I want to know what our District has in mind.

It doesn’t have to be minutely detailed, only an outline of what it is planning to do, what it will cost, a general game plan.

Until the District can give this accounting, taxpayers should be wary of putting any bond on a ballot.
