Re: Open letter about using the Natatorium for a School Board candidates forum
Dear David,
Thank you for your attention at the meeting we had the other day regarding the Natatorium.
I was very glad to hear that the bird poop and garbage debris will be cleaned up in the Culver City schools’ swimming pool Natatorium sometime this summer.
I talked to a number of people after our meeting, and there appears to be wide support among the community to get a chance to see the inside of the natatorium.
I will be proposing to have a candidates forum in the Natatorium. I would appreciate if you could bring up to the School Board the feasibility of having the Natatorium open to the public for a candidates forum.
As you know, school facilities such as the gyms at LaBallona, Lynwood E. Howe, Farragut and El Marino have been used for candidate forums in past elections. There is no reason why the Natatorium could not be used in light of the fact that there is such a demand to see it.
We plan to have about 2,000 signatures of people from the community who want to see the Natatorium open by the middle of Sept.
In the interests of transparency, I think it would be a good idea to open the Natatorium for a public viewing at a candidate forum.
Also in the interest of transparency I will be forwarding a copy of this letter to the media.
Sincerely yours,
Robert (Mr. Z) Zirgulis
