Dateline Dayton – On Valentine’s Day last Saturday, to avoid the crowded restaurants in the evening, we decided to celebrate at our favorite Italian restaurant, Tony's, on Thursday night.  Our friends Dick and Mollie joined us for a delightful evening of food and fellowship.  Since they live very close to Tony's, we went to their home for dessert and more fellowship.

Saturday we did go out for breakfast. I took Pauline to the market, where I bought her a dozen roses.

Thursday turned out to be a good choice because Saturday night was cold and windy.  We did go to church on Saturday evening, as I had something to do on Sunday.

I took our grandson to a wrestling tournament since his parents were out of town.  I'm not much of sports fan, except for baseball’s Dayton Dragons. Opening Day is April 12, and we have tickets.  Wrestling is very, very low on my list of things to do. Grandpas, however, are supposed to do favors like that.

The tournament was in Richmond, IN,  an hour from Dayton. He, though, lives in Middletown. So it was a little trip.  He needed to be at Richmond High School by 10 on Sunday morning. I left just before 8.

Jarod and I arrived at the event a little before 10 o’clock.  He told me they were scheduled for 11.  That is warm-up time. Wrestling did not start until noon.  With the number of wrestlers participating, I figured I would be there until late in the evening.

As it turned out, Jarod lost both matches and there weren’t many in his class. By 2, he was ready to leave.  I asked if he wanted to stay and watch some of his team’s members. No.

I am old fashioned. I just do not think girls should be wrestling boys. In some sports it can be accepted. But with the closeness of wrestling, in my estimation, the sport does not lend itself to girls wrestling boys.

We stopped and got a sandwich, on our way home.   I was back in Centerville by 3:30.

Since my sister wanted to come down, to bring me her tax information, I called and told her I would be home by 4.

Sara and her husband Dave, along with my sister Susan and her husband, Willie, all came. I do all of their taxes.  After a short visit, we were all off to supper.  I wanted to take them to our favorite chicken restaurant, but they were closed.  We ended up at Harrigan’s, a great sports bar with good food.
