State Assemblymember Sebastian Ridley-Thomas’s California Budget Priorities Forum – Los Angeles | Culver City on Saturday from 9 o’clock to 1 at Dorsey High School will feature breakout sessions moderated by state Legislature committee chairs and ranking members of state government.
“My budget forum will be a substantive discussion of fiscal priorities and budget choices for next fiscal year,” Mr. Ridley-Thomas said.
Following an opening session and keynote remarks by Rusty Hicks, executive secretary-treasurer of the County Federation of Labor in the Dorsey gymnasium, state leaders will moderate the following breakout sessions:
Corrections, Public Safety, and the Judiciary
Moderator – Assemblymember Reginald Byron Jones-Sawyer, Sr., Chair, Assembly Budget Subcommittee No. 5 on Public Safety.
Labor and Consumer Protection
Moderator – Patrick W. Henning Jr., Director, Employment Development Dept. Education
Moderator – Assemblymember Kevin McCarthy, Chair, Assembly Budget
Subcommittee on Education Finance.
Resources, Environmental Protection, and Utilities
Moderators – Sen. Fran Pavley, Chair, Senate Natural Resources and Water Committee – Keali'i Bright, Deputy Secretary for Legislation, California Natural Resources Agency.
Transportation, Housing, and Veterans Affairs
Moderator – President Pro Tempore Emeritus Don Perata.
Health and Human Services
Moderator – Sen. Ed Hernandez, Chair, Senate Health Committee
Assemblymember Ridley-Thomas’ California Budget Priorities Forum – Los Angeles | Culver City is a community public policy gathering on budget priorities for the 54th Assembly District that will focus on the impact of proposed state spending in fiscal year 2015-2016.
