Re “LaRose Responds to Girl’s Charge Football Players Assaulted Her”
A Culver City High School girl student who has filed suit against Centaur football players for assaulting her on multiple occasions 13 months ago, reported the attacks to a school employee shortly afterward. She brought her case to the Culver City Police Dept. three weeks after the last of “several” attacks.
There were a number of suspects, police reported late this afternoon, mostly minors.
Lt. Jason Sims declined to identify the exact number of suspects.
Ultimately, 18-year-old Jeremy Weaver, football player and Culver High student at the time, was the lone non-minor arrested.
Subsequently, he was convicted last June 3 on one count of illegal sex acts with a minor. The victim was 14 years old.
Police said that three – but not all – of the assaults against the girl occurred on the Culver High campus.
They said Mr. Weaver participated in three of the unnamed total of attacks.
Originally Mr. Weaver was charged with four counts – three of illegal sex acts with a minor and one of “dissuading a witness.”
On July 8, Mr. Weaver was sentenced to five years’ probation.
