Not unusual in Culver City, five days before Christmas, for a program to be themed “To Honor the Life of Jesus and Mother Mary.”

Except.

Saturday morning’s extravagant 10:30 events is sponsored by, will be hosted by, and was created by the King Fahad Mosque.

Christians and Muslims are strongly urged to turn out, says Mohammed Akbar Khan, director of interfaith and public relations for the mosque, “because we have so much in common.”

The striking gathering is Mr. Khan’s brainchild.

What will happen at this “Multi-Faith Harmony Program,” as Mr. Khan bills it?

A roster of speakers from a variety of faiths will speak, and among them will be a surprise:

Police Chief Scott Bixby.

The Catholic Archdiocese of Los Angeles is sending Father Alexi Smoth.

In a moment of delicacy, Mr. Khan said he has talked to priests and ministers about the tone of their oratory.

In collaboration with the Culver City Area Interfaith Alliance, Syrian Christians for Peace and the South Coast Interfaith Council, the stunning two hours will be among the most groundbreaking in the community’s history.

The Mosque event, 10890 Washington Blvd., is open to the public.
