Dateline Dayton – I hope everyone was able to find something to be thankful for on Thanksgiving, even if this isn't the best of times.
I don't know where yesterday went. My first project was to get all the papers and binders I had next to my chair put away. Each night I been going through papers I have put aside for filing or placing in binders. Wednesday night I thought I had the project completed, when I found two more file folders full of items to be reviewed.
When I completed that task, I still had a lot of filing to do in the garage. Now it was time to get ready to go over to our son Chris’s.
He was hosting Thanksgiving dinner for Pauline and me, along with our two granddaughters, Julia and Madison. Since I had promised Madison I would have some corn puffs for her — she has braces — I had to make a quick trip to the store because I forgot to purchase them.
When the girls arrived at 11 o’clock, we walked over the river and through the woods, to Chris's place. Maybe it wasn't over the river and through the woods. We did, however, cross a bridge. And there were trees.
Chris prepared a great meal. He arranged everything so nicely. After eating and since I had left the apple pie at our place, we decided to have a progressive dinner, with dessert at our house. I did remember the ice cream. So I took that back to serve with the pie.
We had to have the girls at their other grandparents’ house by 3 o’clock. So after dessert we were on our way to their place. Afterward, picked up Pauline's brother Joe because he was coming to our home for supper, which was leftovers from Chris's.
Joe was at our house for three hours, and then it was time to get him back to the assisted living facility that is his present residence. That was a busy place yesterday afternoon and evening.
Today I am working, so I won't be out shopping for all the bargains. Besides, now all the craziness begins on Thanksgiving Day. Retailers can't wait to get your money!
