Re “Smith Proves Farragut Case, Greenberg Says”

Les Greenberg wants me to prove that his overly restrictive parking on Farragut Drive affects our church.  In addition, we have daytime activities, such as after-school care, which provides a safe, friendly environment for children to come to and adult meetings of various committees.  We also have activities and meetings in the early evening, including a choir that practices at 7:30 every Thursday, etc.  Many of these participants have to walk several blocks to the church while Farragut Drive sits empty of cars. That residents of Farragut Drive have a personal parking lot between 8 a.m. and 10 p.m., Monday through Friday, is completely unfair to all the residents of Culver City, except for those on one block of Farragut Drive.

Very few of the residents on Farragut Drive actually park on the street. However, they want to make certain that no one else can park there, either.

As far as Grace Diner is concerned, it began as an outreach program of Grace Lutheran Church and became so successful that we decided to form a separate non-profit entity.  It is our desire to see if other churches in the general area may consider doing the same thing on different nights of the week so we can better serve the underserved.

Since you didn't answer my question about what have you done for the community lately, I have another question for you.  What are you afraid of?  You are an attorney. I think that you would want the facts on every issue you deal with.  The fact is, the only way to determine what the parking situation is on Farragut Drive is to do a parking study.

Why are you so afraid of having this study done?

In addition to filing a public nuisance complaint with the city for our members legally parking their cars on a city street on Sundays takes a lot of nerve.

Filing a petition with the city to extend your personal parking privileges to Saturday and Sunday takes even more nerve.

Do you expect this City Council to make the same error that previous Councils made and just give you what you want, no questions asked?
