“As an individual, I believe in freedom to marry,” he said.
“I am pleased the Supreme Court decided to leave the matter in the hands of the state, that they recognizes the people, regardless of gender, to marry.”
Would Mr. Weissman have given the same response a decade ago when the powerful pro-gay marriage movement still was feeling its way along?
“Yes.”
Unlike many Americans, he has not evolved on the subject – he always has held this open position.
“I never have vacillated from the position of respecting an individual’s right to marry,” Mr. Weissman said.
