Re “Time for City Hall to Go Into Shoulder-Shrugging Mode”

Safety, numerous Council members have said, is their primary responsibility, and the revenue… From an earlier report in this series

Who knows why certain persons are in love with the broadly criticized red light camera system – especially since Culver City’s contract is with a morally dubious company that cops and elected officials defend.

Which is the more offensive aspect of City Hall’s arrogant-sounding springtime romance with troubled Redflex Traffic Systems:

• That the city’s most visible political and law enforcement leaders would ardently, tirelessly vouch for a company waist-high in criminal problems?

• Or that not one of these defenders has a decent notion of the truly meaningful data in this imaginative scheme?

It almost seems as if they are addicted to Redflex and cannot admit it.

If anyone in Culver City knows how much revenue is being derived from this scheme, he must have been struck dumb.

The city’s take is so incidental that it is curious – at least – that  they even bother.

You would think the Police Dept., which has publicly defended Redflex as if they were in debt to the shadowy mystery company, would be posting signs showing how much safer this – scheme or scam – has made Culver City.

What accountability.

But at least it makes all of them feel good.

You want specificity?

Sorry, Culver City is on a diet, swallowing abstract pills.

Because all persons interviewed by the newspaper do not know.
