What Was Behind Shutdown of Disputed Park Project?

Yesterday morning a construction worker at the construction site of the 16-acre illegal Veterans Park Conservancy, a public park, informed me that the open-air amphitheater project was shut down. The workers were cleaning up to leave.

Hews News Group broke a story on Friday about executive director Sue Young of the Veterans Park Conservancy earning more than $1.1 million over the last decade promoting her public park scam — that is illegal — while forcing war-injured, impoverished Veterans to live homeless and hungry in back-alley squalor.

The noted former track star Rafer Johnson attended the 330th Sunday Rally this week. He spoke out about the misuse of Veterans’ land. He objected to the VA allowing this amphitheater and other non-Veterans projects to be built. Instead, he said, the VA should be building housing and care for disabled homeless Veterans. His presence and his voice are highly respected in opposing civil rights and human rights violations.

Mr. Johnson’s presence was no doubt acknowledged by the powers that be.

The American Civil Liberties Union likely put the pressure on the federal courts to block this unlawful construction on VA property. Last Aug. 26, a federal court ruled such activity “unauthorized by law, and therefore void.”

Los Angeles County has postponed its $6 million beautification project on Wilshire Boulevard for two months. The plan would destroy bushes outside the VA fence where homeless Veterans sleep. Further, it would shut down the sidewalk where the Old Veterans Guard has demonstrated over the past six years against the public park scam and other misuses.  The County has an illegal “license” agreement with the VA to use land that was to benefit Veterans Park Conservancy’s scheme.

Show up Sunday for our 331st Sunday Rally to keep this fight going until we take back all of this land back for Veteran use. Only then will we be able to  “Bring Our Homeless Veterans Home.”

God Bless America and the Veterans Revolution!
