The Culver City Arts District, a unique collection of art galleries, creative businesses, specialty retail and restaurants, will present its first annual Summer Solstice event on Saturday, June 21, from 12 noon to 7 o’clock.

The Arts District is on Washington Boulevard between Helms and Fairifax avenues.

Celebrating the longest day of the year, the Summer Solstice will feature a free self-guided tour of art galleries exhibiting new and distinguished artists, musical performances throughout the day at various venues, children’s arts and crafts and special discounts at several area restaurants and retail businesses. 

Free musical performances will be provided in coordination with Make Music LA as part of a global musical festival taking place in 700 cities around the world on the same day.  The event is sponsored by the Chamber of Commerce, Visual Art Source, ArtScene, art ltd., the city of Culver City and www.LAArtParty.com.

The Culver City Arts District is partnering with Metro to provide destination discounts for those who take Metro to the event.

As parking in the area is limited, visitors are encouraged to carpool or take public transportation. 

Metro riders will receive l Destination Discounts at several restaurants and shops throughout the district when they show their TAP card. 

The Arts District is one block east of the Culver City Expo station.

In addition, Culver CityBus will be offering a $1 bus fare for visitors that will allow unlimited travel between Downtown and Fairfax Avenue from noon to 7.  Guests may board the bus at participating Culver CityBus stops and purchase bus passes from the driver on the day of the event.

Parking for the Summer Solstice event is available in Downtown parking structures with limited parking at the Helms Bakery Complex, the Exceptional Children’s Foundation, along Washington Boulevard and La Cienega.

Visitors are advised to refrain from parking in the residential area surrounding the Art District.
