The Whole 9 Art Gallery and online community presents the second “Affair of The Arts” on Saturday and Sunday in Downtown, at the intersection of Culver Boulevard and Main Street.
The free outdoor festival runs from 11 to 7 on Saturday and 12 to 6 on Sunday.
Sixty of Southern California's premiere painters, photographers, sculptors, and glass, ceramics and jewelry artists will be showcased.
Live music will frame the portrait of this artistic presentation.
Proceeds from the festival will support the construction of 200 “instant houses” for families who lost their homes to Typhoon Haiyan in the Philippines.
In one special moment this weekend, the on-site construction of one of the dwellings to be painted and otherwise adorned by exhibiting artists.
“For the past three years,” said Lisa Schultz, founder of www.TheWhole9.com and The Peace Project.
“We have been using the power of TheWhole9.com’s artists’ community to fuel change through the non-profit Peace Project’s local and international initiatives.
“Producing an arts festival is a natural extension. It helps create another link between art and change.”
Adults and children will be invited to participate in free workshops led by Whole 9 artists to create wind chimes using materials from dwellings destroyed by the typhoon.
In addition to visual arts, Affair of the Arts features two days of live, eclectic music from some of L.A.’s most loved musicians.
Whether child or adult, every visitor will be permitted to participate in interactive art projects.
