Re “‘Like to See an Overwhelming’ Measure CC Win, Levin Says”
On the day before The Vote in what appears to be a threshold victory for the school bond issue, Measure CC, undoubtedly “there are people who still want to hear more information,” as Dr. Steve Levin recently noted.
“They want to be convinced,” said the freshman School Board member.
“I have not heard anyone with a really strong anti-bond viewpoint who feels like they have all the facts and have decided against it.
“I have heard from a few people who had not been paying much attention to the bond so far ad want to be informed. But that is as far as it has gone.”
The evidence of the payoff from the $106 million bond issue will not be long in coming, Dr. Levin says. “We have passed a resolution we would use the bond retroactively for money spent this summer,” he said. “We won’t actually be able to issue bonds by this summer. But I hope we will be doing work this summer that will be paid for, ultimately, by the bonds.
“The idea this spring was to figure out which projects were ready to start right away, get them all ready to go, and then not actually start them until the bond passes, so we know the money will be there.”
