For Sale. Please. Help.

Dateline Dayton – Our garage sale was last weekend, and the weather cooperated. Sunny and warm, a pleasant breeze and no rain.  Traffic was steady, but not great.  When my friend Dan has a sale, there is a crowd. Not this time.  People were probably enjoying the long weekend at the lake, or working in their yards.

I unloaded bulky items, which will help with the takedown. Pauline sold or gave away some of her dolls.  The doll market is the pits.  For some reason, little girls appear uninterested.  Wasn't able to sell either of my big ticket items, a wooden National Cash Register and the replica of Orville Wright's pilot’s license. Thus, revenue was small.

Since Dan is holding a garage sale this weekend, he decided to continue his sale.  I won’t be able to work until Saturday. I took  yesterday afternoon off to do an errand for Pauline's brother, and tomorrow morning I must take him to a doctor’s appointment.

I hope everyone had a great Memorial Day.  Ours started with church, where all the military were honored, followed by a ceremony for those who made the ultimate sacrifice.  After the ceremony, Pauline and I went out for breakfast.

From there, things went downhill. I worked  around the condo, which included getting the screens installed, flowers planted and a little work in the garage, still a disaster area.  We were going to have a cookout, but Pauline was not feeling well by meal time.

Pass the Soap, Please

It has been awhile since I have mounted my soapbox regarding a licensing plan to have children.  That would solve some, not all, problems. The problem of children being abused, neglected and killed is worsening.

You cannot pick up a newspaper without finding a story that a parent or someone entrusted with the care of a child, has harmed him or her.  A license will not cure the problem, but education through licensing would help.

With family life being what it is, children need all the help they can get.
