Re “The Bixby Challenge: To Search or Not to Search?”
In his new role as interim police chief, Scott Bixby said that since he began his duties one month ago this morning, days flit by so swiftly “that I find myself having lunch at 3 because I forget to do it earlier. Just don’t have a chance,” and Mr. Bixby quickly interjected that he was not complaining.
“When I do finally get home, I am looking forward to coming in the next day because there are just so many things I want to do in a short period of time.”
That may have been an allusion to the 90to 120 days he is expected to serve as interim chief before the City Council decides on a permanent successor to the retired Don Pedersen.
The Council was expected to develop its strategy for choosing a successor prior to last Monday’s meeting, but they did not get that far. Members appear to be content with Mr. Bixby in the permanent chair 30 days along.
“So many things I want to do,” said the interim chief, “and it seems like there is such a short time. I want to get them done soon as possible because I think it’s important that I meet with certain people. It has more impact now than it will in three months.”
