A new client called me with an issue of anger, a lifetime problem.  When she recently had an outburst, it caused a huge rift in her extended family. Her husband was threatening to leave. As a mother of two young children, she wants to can gain control over her temper and moodiness.

She had seen other therapists, and the tools they gave her were not working.

I explained to her that therapists do amazing work, but they can take 600 sessions because they are only talking to a patient’s conscious mind. Of the 5 percent of our brain that we use, only 10 percent is our conscious mind. The other 90 is our subconscious. Everything about us is stored within our subconscious. It is here that we have trained ourselves to be the people that we are, and this is where  changes would take place.

Remember that we all are more successful than we realize because we have trained ourselves to be who we are.  We settle for the behaviors that we get. As a hypnotist I help clients change the behaviors from what they get to what they want.

Birth of a Bad Temper

My client had picked up on these angry behaviors as a result of her upbringing. Her father had the same problem. We learn our behaviors between birth and 12 years old. The way she developed was not surprising. She emulated what she  learned as correct behavior. She would not have been this way if her mother had intervened and stood up to her father.

Her diet was another important factor –heavy in carbohydrates and low in protein. After she had eaten, she felt better, more even tempered.  Unfortunately, she was not eating much protein. Her blood sugar level would spike high, then quickly plunge. Here is where she ran into trouble. When her blood sugar was low she sweat, breathed rapidly, and her temper spiraled.

Eating Way to Victory

By offering her a diet rich in protein and advising her to eat every two to three hours, this formula desensitized the negatives of her early life.

Within 72 hours, her moods began to stabilize. She became more energized and markedly less irritable. As she learned more about how she became the way she was, her mood swings stopped and her former anger melted.

She is handling her husband and children more effectively than before. They have grown into  a more open, loving, cohesive family.

She desired to be better, and today she is.
