Residents can make the shlep Downtown to the Board Room of the Lyfe Restaurant, “but they will be bored,” Board President Laura Chardiet promises.

“The School District has spent a lot of time working with teachers and administrators on Professional Learning Communities. At some School Board meetings, we have kind of joked that instead of a PLC, we want a BLC, a Board Learning Community.”

In a parallel experience, Dr. Steve Levin, Nancy Goldberg, Sue Robins and Kathy Paspalis will join Ms. Chardiet around a table where they will explore visions, goals, protocols and standard operating procedures.

The public will not be turned away, but Ms. Chardiet said firmly that their role will be limited to observing, not participating.

She expects it will be “awkward” for those who do attend “because we will be talking about how we will read our packets in a timely manner and how we will submit our requests for clarification to staff before Board meetings, and establishing our standards for operating effectively as a Board.”
