Humans, the Least Likely Species to Change

For the first time in 30 years, I took time off and went to the Getty Villa as a birthday present for my wife, who never had been there.

While there, I was struck by how little we humans have changed. Fashions and technology made almost unrecognizable changes, but we have not.

Looking at human history through the eyes of the bible or historians leads us to the inevitable conclusion that unless mankind massively changes, we are doomed to repeat errors we constantly commit.

To prove our fundamental human nature has not changed. We still are the violent, imaginative, caring, loving, hateful, jealous, gluttonous people we always have been. Watch the news. Our leaders may make careers of duplicating mistakes. We just cannot become better than we have been.

Hypnosis has been around since the beginning of time, used effectively by many different people for their own enrichment or even to help others. Vestal Virgins were hypnotists. Kings and queens, doctors and priests all were hypnotists. Some say Jesus was.

Unscrupulous characters were hypnotists, including Rasputin, the Russian peasant who gained favor with the Tsar and Tsarina. Even Franz Mesmer, who helped many, ultimately was proven to be a charlatan by a six-man committee including Benjamin Franklin.

In spite of the good and bad usages, hypnotism can be entertaining when you go to a stage show. They may be amusing, but unfortunately, stage hypnotism scares off people. Audiences come away believing the hypnotist can take control of a person’s mind and make the subject do anything. Some fear post- hypnotic suggestions, worried the hypnotized person  may do something after the show.

For any form of hypnosis to work, the client must be willing to be hypnotized. It is equally important to understand that a hypnotist never can make you do anything you do not want to do.

If you would not perform a specific act in a conscious state, be 100 percent certain you will not do it under hypnosis.

Hypnotism can be a wonderful adjunct to the work that others within the helping professions can offer. It has been documented that a psychologist or psychiatrist may take up to 600 sessions to accomplish what a hypnotherapist can help a client achieve within six to eight. I have seen the results. If you are seeking to create personal changes and willing to undergo hypnosis, you will accomplish them.

Hypnosis is a powerful force to simply help any person change their behaviors.
