Culver City High School’s girls’ basketball team will try to take possession of first place in the Ocean League when they host Inglewood on Friday evening at 6.

The winner will take the league lead.

Inglewood has been the Centaurs’ only competition in the Ocean League. Culver City is 6-0 in league play, 18-5 overall.  Inglewood is 5-1 and 13-10.

In November, the Sentinels beat the Centaurs, and last month Culver City outlasted Inglewood.

“We know Inglewood will be ready to play on Friday,” said Centaur coach Julian Anderson. “They play a fast up-tempo game just like we do.”

If last week’s games are an indication, Culver City will be ready. They dominated Beverly Hills 73-21 on Wednesday and ran past Morningside 60-20 on Friday.

“All of the girls stepped up and did their jobs,” said Anderson after the Morningside game.

Although all of the players on the roster played well against Beverly Hills and Morningside, Culver City counts on its Big Three, Kailey Tooke, Kelsey Ueda and Michelle Curry.

Next week the Centaurs will host Hawthorne on Tuesday and travel to Beverly Hills on Thursday for 6 o’clock games.
