Thunder. Lightning. Drum rolls. Forty-five cents with of emotions.
Then the spent, letdown crowd will go home from this evening’s 7 o’clock City Council meeting wondering why they were so excited about an empty bucket.
The entire agenda is two glossy items:
• Miles of talk about remediation of the earth beneath the doomed Culver City Ice Arena, and
• Consideration (remember that word) of vacancies on three city boards, the Parks and Recreation Commission, the Landlord Tenant Mediation Board and the Fiesta La Ballona Committee.
Going in, it is crucial to know this:
• The Ice Arena will not be saved, merely closed down after next Sunday with the highly technical details of how to neutralize the ground beneath the be decided.
• No one will be appointed to any of the three boards with vacancies. The Council only will concentrate on the process.
