Assemblyman Sebastian Ridley-Thomas (d-Culver City) today endorsed Autumn Burke for the 62nd Assembly District in the state’s June 3, primary election. Ms. Burke seeks to succeed Assemblyman Steve Bradford.
Ms. Burke is the daughter of the now-retired Yvonne Brathwaite Burke, former state Assemblywoman, U.S. Representative and member of the County Board of Supervisors. The 62nd Assembly District stretches from West Los Angeles to the South Bay, including Marina Del Rey, Mar Vista and the cities of Inglewood, Hawthorne, Lawndale, El Segundo.
“Autumn Burke will bring new ideas and a next-generation policy perspective to the state capitol,” Mr. Ridley-Thomas said. “Autumn understands that our first business is to create new jobs that will put residents back to work.
“As a businesswoman, Autumn understands the importance of aiding our small businesses to promote local hiring that can add punch to our state’s weak but steady economic recovery.”
Mr. Ridley-Thomas expects Ms. Burke to bring the Inglewood Unified School District out of receivership, to aid in Affordable Healthcare Act implementation, to join those seeking to bring rail transit passengers to airport terminals in LAX.
